ArtAttack reaches Stellies’ streets

ArtAttack in streets of Stellenbosch

Annette Havenga

A wave of art is hitting the streets of Stellenbosch this month with the PJ Olivier Art Centre – steering this annual competition.

Street art of 11 Grade 11 scholars will be exhibited in 11 different places in Stellenbosch. Formerly known as ‘Pjo inni Bosch,’ running since 2016, this year will mark the new and exciting changes to the competition.

Interested parties will meet at the PJ Olivier Art Gallery on 24 September at 11:00 for the opening and, geared with a map, take a walkabout with the artists through the streets of Stellenbosch to view the art on display. It will be the first year of the all-new ‘ArtAttack’ and the walkabout for the street art viewing. Public can then vote on Instagram – @artattack_2022 for their favourite art works, from where a winner will be chosen.

Another student initiative from the Art Centre will be the Grade 12 exhibition at the PJ Olivier Art Centre from 27 October 2022. Viewing will be open to the public till to 8 November 2022.

Visit the gallery for a current exhibition running displaying the work of local artists from all over South Africa.
